Pacuare Matina Forest Reserve
The main objective of the reserve is the protection, conservation and education efforts relating to the different species of sea turtles that nest along its shores, as well as the protection of the eggs until they hatch. Sea turtle monitoring is one of the most important projects carried out in the Pacuare Reserve, since it is one of the country’s largest nesting sites for leatherback sea turtles (an endangered species).
