Coopelesca R.L. is the Cooperativa de Electrificación Rural de la Zona Norte de Costa Rica (Rural Electrification Cooperative of the North Zone of Costa Rica),founded in 1965.
It has a concession area of 4770 km2, and more than 109,000 associates. It produces 90% of its energy from its own renewable sources, through six hydroelectric power plants and the Cooperative Solar Park. Since 2012, the cooperative’s members have been supporting the protection of the Juan Castro Blanco National Water Park. With the contribution of ¢200 per month through the electricity bill, 1137 hectares of land have been acquired for the conservation of forest, biodiversity, water and landscape, thus the Montaña

The Montaña Sagrada Nature Reserve - Night tour
