Introduction
Over the years, more and more foreigners have fallen in love with the area and have decided to buy properties in La Fortuna, either to live on a permanent basis or to be able to visit more regularly throughout the year. The topography of La Fortuna and San Carlos is very flat, in fact the area is known as the “San Carlos plains”. It is an area rich in wildlife and tropical forests.
La Fortuna of San Carlos is an area rich in natural attractions, which makes it ideal for adventure and nature tourism. La Fortuna has many attractions, which can be visited on your own, such as the Arenal Volcano, the La Fortuna waterfall or the hanging bridges.
If you want to learn more about the area or if you are interested in adventure activities like ziplining or rafting, guided tours are available in La Fortuna. There are also activities that you can enjoy completely free, such as walks around the town, visiting crystal clear rivers or visiting the Arenal Lake and if you rent a bicycle, take a ride through different nearby towns such as El Castillo or La Guaria. Finally, your vacation in La Fortuna Costa Rica will not be complete without a visit the hot springs of the Arenal Volcano.
If you ask a resident what the weather is like in La Fortuna, they will surely say that it varies and can change from one minute to the next. It really is, it can be hot and sunny in the morning with pouring rain just a few hours later.
Generally, the months of January, February, March and April are very hot with less rain, but that does not mean that it does not rain at all. The rainiest months of the year are May, June, September, October and November but, then again, that does not mean that we don’t experience some amazing sunsets during these months. The hottest temperatures of the year can be around 33-35 degrees Celsius, while the coldest temperatures can reach 15-17 degrees Celsius.
There are plenty of dining options in La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano area, with all kinds of restaurants, a varied cuisine and something for all budgets. If you are wondering where to eat in La Fortuna, you will get a lot of options as an answer.
Typical “sodas” or diners, which are the cheapest places to eat in La Fortuna, and in Costa Rica in general, serve traditional Costa Rican dishes such as a “casado” or “gallo pinto”. Sodas are the eateries most visited by Costa Ricans.
