Sport fishing on the coast of the Northern Caribbean region, which extends from the Río San Juan (tarpon and snook fishing) to the city of Limon, is world famous. It attracts anglers looking for unique and memorable experiences.
Fishing in the Caribbean
The fishing conditions along the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica depend on the weather, and can vary more from day to day than from month to month. The best places are found in Tortuguero and Barra del Colorado. Historically, tarpon fishing is promoted by hotels located on the east coast of Costa Rica from December to mid-May, while snook fishing is promoted from September to November.
