AGITUBRIT
(Association of Indigenous Tourist Guides Bribri Talamanca)
The association was created in 2014 by professional guides specialized in cultural and ecological tourism. It is made up of 15 people from the communities of Yorkin, Shuab, Suretka, Meleruk, Suiri, Amubri, Tsoki and Namu Wokir, from Talamanca in the southern Caribbean of Costa Rica. The Talamanca area is home to some of the most important indigenous territories of Costa Rica, those of the Teribe, Bribri and Cabécar people.
Exuberant nature and a millennial culture
AGITUBRIT offers a variety of tours focused on the indigenous culture of Talamanca. These tours offer a different kind of experience to tourists, in which the visitor enters our culture, learns about our worldview, our spirituality and our relationship with nature.
Indigenous tourism in Talamanca should be based on respect for the Siwá, the ancestral ideological thought that lives on in the traditional practices that are based on a relationship with nature, spirituality, living well and social coexistence. From the perspective of a tourism ethic based on the Siwá, for our people, nature has sacred spiritual elements and values for life that positively impact the knowledge and wisdom nurtured by this close relationship of respect between the indigenous natural person (ditsöwo) and nature”.
Activities:
• Walks through the primary forests of Talamanca.
