Beaches of the Caribbean
Playa Grande Cahuita
Grande is an uncrowded beach of gray sand and few rocks, which offers an intermediate swell. It is an ideal place to relax, because although it is part of the community of Cahuita, it is less crowded. Enjoy a walk on the beach or simply sunbathe on the sand. Certainly, there is less living vegetation and fauna than along most of the beaches of Cahuita.

Playa Round Rock en Cahuita
Perhaps it owes its name to the rocks at its end with circular holes. The beach is only about 400 m long, but it offers peace, quiet and a good view, with a hammock available for visitors. It is located immediately before Playa Negra in Cahuita, and provides a nice option to vary your stay in the area, although you should take into account that due to its size it is not suitable for many people.

Playa Negra
True to its name, this sand of this beach located near the center of Puerto Viejo is black. It has few stones and an intermediate swell that increases during the winter season, forming waves suitable for surfing. Playa Negra is surrounded by palms and trees.

Playa de Puerto Viejo
Salsa Brava or Playa Puerto Viejo, as it is known, is a site of golden sand and few stones. The beach has become a favorite destination for advanced surfers, who in face the waves that form offshore during Limón’s winter (November to January and April to August). There are also some fishing boats and spaces to lie on the sand and enjoy the sun. In the drier summer months (February, March, September and October) when the waves diminish, you can swim and enjoy the crystal clear water.
