Manzanillo
Located within the picturesque Gandoca- Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, the small, quiet fishing village of Manzanillo is the last town south of the tranquil surf town of Puerto Viejo. The main attraction of this small town is its fabulous coastline of gorgeous beaches, dominated by palm trees, which bathe their branches in the calm and gentle waters of the Caribbean Sea. This fishing village has a unique atmosphere and culture that are characteristic of the Caribbean province.
With a wide variety of fish, crabs, shrimp and lobsters in the area, this town is known for its good food. Manzanillo has several colorful local markets and restaurants serving some of the best seafood in all of Costa Rica.
Hone Creek
This community is located about 10 kilometers from the main entrance of Cahuita National Park, and is a transit area between the communities of
Cahuita and Puerto Viejo, which
is why this community is used as a stopover point for tourists visiting the area or heading to Sixaola, Puerto Viejo, or other locations.
Parismina
With its almost complete isolation, Parismina has developed its own culture and traditions that combine Costa Rican history and language with a unique dialect and Caribbean-influenced food. By incorporating Caribbean traditions into everyday life, the 600 inhabitants of Parismina have developed a unique and vibrant culture with fascinating links to multiple ethnic roots and Caribbean traditions. This village is known for its ecotourism and sport fishing (tarpon and snook), which form the basis of the economy.
